      How to Play

      Basics
Move your mouse to control your cell. Eat food pellets scattered around the map to grow. The bigger you are, the slower you move. Your goal is to survive and climb the leaderboard.
      Eating Players
You can eat other players who are smaller than you by moving over them. Watch out — bigger players will try to eat you too. Use split (Space) to launch half your mass at a nearby target.
      Anti-Team Buff
When 2 or more different players deal damage to you within a short window, you're flagged as ganged up on — and an underdog buff kicks in against every one of your active attackers:
      • Outgoing damage × N — damage you deal back to any of your attackers is multiplied by the number of distinct attackers (N). Three teamers means you hit each of them for damage.
      • Incoming damage ÷ N — damage those attackers deal to you is divided by the same count. Three teamers each hit you for 1∕3 damage.
The buff applies to all PvP damage: projectiles, area zones (Frozen Circle, Flame Area), and auras (Burning Aura, Reflect Damage). Attackers only count while recent — if they stop attacking, they drop off the list and the multiplier shrinks. A ⚔ Nx vs N attackers badge appears in your stats panel while the buff is active.
      Anti-Feeding Penalty
Handing mass back and forth with a partner — both of you ejecting to each other — is flagged as teaming and ramps up a mass decay penalty on both players. The more you feed each other, the faster your mass drains.
      • Only reciprocal feeding counts — the game uses the smaller of the two directions. One-way donations (feeding a newbie, tossing pellets at an NPC) do not trigger the penalty.
      • Severity scales with both volume and count — based on reciprocal mass exchanged and number of exchanges. Penalty caps out around 20× decay at peak severity.
      • History fades over time — if you stop feeding each other, the recorded exchanges decay away and the penalty drops back to 1×.
      • Per-pair tracking — your penalty is driven by your worst partner. Feeding many different players each a little is cheaper than hammering one partner.
A ⚠ DECAY Nx badge appears in your stats panel whenever the penalty is above 1×, and the exact multiplier is shown in the Decay line of your stats breakdown.
      Splitting & Ejecting
Press Space to split your cell in two, launching one half forward. Press W to eject a small pellet of mass. Ejecting can be used to feed allies or bait enemies.
      Viruses
Green spiky cells found across the map. If you're big enough and touch one, you'll split into many pieces. Smaller cells can hide behind them. Some viruses hunt nearby players — watch for the red glow.
      Black Holes
Dark swirling objects that pull in nearby cells and food. Some shoot projectiles, others use harpoons to drag you in. Eating one drops valuable black hole resources. Super black holes are massive and visible on the minimap — avoid unless you're prepared.
      NPCs (Creatures)
AI-controlled creatures roam the map. They vary in size, speed, and abilities — some throw bombs, some freeze, some poison. Bosses are rare and powerful but drop great loot. Check the Creatures tab for details.
      Plants
Small collectible items that grow in different biomes. Eat them to add plant resources to your inventory. Each biome has unique plants.
      Map & Rings
The map is divided into concentric rings. The center is safest with weaker creatures. Outer rings have stronger NPCs and better loot but are more dangerous.
      Traveling Between Areas
To move from one area to another, you must be a single cell. If you are split into multiple cells, merge back together first before crossing an area border. Walk to the edge of your current area to transition to the next one.
      Minimap
The minimap is in the bottom-right corner. Click it to cycle through 3 views:
      • Neighborhood — shows a 3x3 grid of areas around you. Good for quick navigation between nearby zones.
      • Area View — zooms into your current area. Shows safe zones, banks, rad zones, nearby bosses, and super black holes.
      • Full Map — shows the entire world grid. See all areas, rings, bank locations, rad zones, and boss spawns at a glance.
      Rad Zones
Radioactive areas marked on the map. Entering one damages you over time, but they contain crates with rare wearables and components. Get in, grab loot, get out.
      Bosses
Bosses are powerful NPCs that spawn in dedicated boss areas on the map. They have significantly more HP, damage, and unique abilities like bomb throwing, freezing, or poisoning. Bosses are visible on the minimap. Killing them rewards large amounts of XP and high-quality wearable and component drops.
      Golden NPCs
Any NPC has a chance to spawn as a golden variant. The more creatures you kill in an area, the higher the chance becomes. Golden NPCs glow gold and are far stronger — 3x HP, more damage, and faster speed. They reward 5x XP and 3x loot drops compared to their normal version. The golden spawn chance decays over time if you stop killing.
      Treasure Chests
Treasure chests spawn in specific areas on the map and are visible on the minimap. They come in 3 tiers — each harder to crack but with better rewards. Attack a chest to break it open. Treasure chests guarantee wearable and component drops, and give multiplied loot (5x/10x/20x). Coordinate with other players for the toughest ones.
      Leveling Up
Earn XP by eating food, players, and creatures. Level up to unlock skill points and ability points. Your level and all upgrades persist across sessions if you're logged in. You can also convert XP into additional skill or ability points.
      Skills
Skills are active abilities you activate during gameplay. Bind them to keys (Q, E, A, S, D) and press to use. Each skill has a cooldown and duration that improve with level. Skill categories:
      • Speed — Speed, Speed Burst, Speed Surge, Sweep — temporary movement boosts
      • Projectile — Single Shot, Frost Shot, Poison Shot, Stun Shot, Flame Shot — fire damaging projectiles
      • Aura — Reflect Damage, Stone Skin, Burning Aura — passive effects around your cell
      • Heal — Emergency Heal, Healing Aura — restore HP
      • Area — Frozen Circle, Flame Area, Repulsion Field — affect an area around you
      • Defensive — Knockback, Hiding — push enemies away or go invisible
      • Buff — Gigantify — temporarily grow your cell
      • Eject — Cannon Shot — supercharged mass eject
      • Cure — Cleanse, Purify — remove debuffs like poison, freeze, or stun
      • Illusion — Body Double — spawn decoy cells to confuse enemies
      Abilities
Abilities are passive upgrades that are always active. Spend ability points to level them up (max level 10 each):
      • Decay — reduces mass decay rate
      • Mass Increase — gain more mass when eating
      • Speed — increases base movement speed
      • XP Boost — gain more XP from all sources
      • Pellet Power — increases projectile range
      • Pellet Damage — projectiles deal more damage
      • Splitting Power — split cells travel further and faster
      • Radiation Resistance — reduces damage in rad zones
      • Virus Resistance — reduces mass loss from virus splits
      • Rapid Fire — reduces all projectile cooldowns
      • Fortify — increases maximum HP cap
      • Explode — 50% chance to explode on death, dealing area damage (min 500 mass)
      Resources & Ores
Collect ores, black hole drops, virus drops, and plants as you play. Resources are stored in your inventory and can be deposited in the bank for safekeeping. You drop all carried resources on death.
      Bank
Visit a bank zone on the map to safely store your resources, GP, wearables, and components. Items in the bank are safe if you die. Access the bank UI when inside a bank zone.
      Wearable Items
Wearables are equippable items that boost your stats. Each has a category, a power level (1–10), and durability that decreases with use. Stronger stats scale with higher power level. You can equip one item per category slot:
      • Amulet — XP boost, luck boost, GP boost
      • Armament — player damage, NPC damage, pellet speed
      • Booster — move speed, split velocity, eject speed
      • Core — mass gain, mass decay reduction, rad resistance
      • Nanobots — cooldown reduction, HP regen
      • Nucleus — max HP boost, rad resistance, physical resist
      • Ring — damage type boosts (fire, ice, poison, physical, magical, explosion) and root power
      • Shell — resistances (physical, fire, ice, magical, poison)
Wearables drop from killing NPCs and opening crates in rad zones. Drag an item from your inventory onto the matching equip slot to wear it. Store extras in the bank to keep them safe.
      Skins
Customize your cell's appearance from the skin selector on the main menu. Some skins are free, others cost silver. You can also submit custom skins for approval.
      Chat
Press Enter to open chat and type a message. Your message appears above your cell for a few seconds. Keep it friendly.
      Quests
Click the Quests button in the top-right area to open the quest panel. Each life you receive 5 random quests from two quest givers:
      • Kenshiro — honorable quests: kill NPCs, mine ores, harvest plants, find components, or reach a target mass.
      • Roger Don — darker quests: devour other players, grow to massive sizes, or survive for extended periods.
Each quest shows a description, reward preview (XP, GP, and Fame), and an Accept or Reject button. You can reject one quest every 5 minutes — a replacement will be generated. Accepted quests track progress in real time with a progress bar. Once complete, click Claim to collect your rewards. Completing a quest generates a new one in its place.
